Phonix Records presents their first release of 2023! Months in the making, label manager Ishikawa takes a decidedly different direction. Going back to the basics, looking to break out of old patterns and compile a collection of tracks across many styles to realise the Root Function.

Featuring a collection of friends old and new - this release draws on a variety of sounds ranging from early goa influences, to next gen night time full on and groovy forest inspired tracks. The release starts with 'Door 531' by Sonochrome (Daniel Peso) - step in and experience this opening groover which features dreamy goa melodies. Wizard Ionkhe (Ivan Lugo) then revisits 'Black Flag' with a 2023 remix, a sneak peek into his debut album coming soon on Phonix Records. A soulful and marauding remix that leaves deep echoes. Taking that energy to the next level is atSar (Pedro Trindade) - with 'Broken Circle'. A hyper melodic and aggressive track - a throwback to classic night time full on and goa melodies.

Amigo Stack Rack (Pedro Ferreira) - hot on the heels of a string of strong releases on MMD Records and Sculpted Sounds - is up next with 'Power On'. A 150 BPM bumper bonus that bursts with energy - a testament to why Stack Rack is an artist to keep an eye on. Keeping the momentum going is Synthom (Filipe Dias) with 'Sound Drop'. A showcase of his new forest inspired style - looney, uplifting and downright saasy. Legendary producer Random (Ross Dubois) follows up with his special brand of 'Mayhem'. A genre defying belter featuring acid leads and a bassline that is all business.

The final act features Cosmic Apocalypse (Andre Muller and Keenan Myburgh) with 'Daredevils'. A fusion of classic melodies with night time full on. Quato (Pierre Lemieux and Manu Beaudin) - deliver their Phonix debut 'Circus Freak', a quirky yet seriously deranged story. The 'Darkside' by Phonix Records founder Luxbuna (Paulo Etnarama) is our final chapter. A melodic beast that digs deep into our very the very roots of the Phonix Records story.

Shout out to Tryambaka (Tiago Pimentel) for the stellar mastering and Ionkhe who pulls double duty with artwork. Time to do what we do best - take us to your speakers and strap in. Root Function - activate!

In 2010, Paulo Etnarama founded Phonix Records to support fresh acts producing twilight psytrance. Later that year Ishikawa joined the label as a co-manager and together they worked to achieve their vision.
